Is the single life for me?

Let’s be honest. I’ve had a lot of good…what’s the word? Fuck Buddies! Some REALLY good fuck buddies but I’m starting to wondering, how long do I really want to be single for? I love not being committed and I love being able to do whatever I want, with whoever, wherever, without having to ‘check in’.

You’re probably wondering ‘Where is all this coming from?’. I’ve just got home from a double date where I was the gooseberry. It wasn’t bad and I adore my friends a lot. It was just the part heading back to the car, my friends and their other halves hand in hand as I walk behind them clutching on to my handbag whilst flicking through my BlackBerry in desperation to not look so lonely.

I’m starting to wonder if I’ve got to the stage where it isn’t a relationship I’m craving, but just having someone there. No status. But someone.

On a recent night out with my work colleagues in Leeds, one of the ladies from my team kept telling me (in a drunken state of course), “Don’t settle down, take this time to just go have fun, go sow your wild oats”, and she’s right. I totally agree with her!

I guess I don’t know what I want right now, but I can tell you this, I’ll always be seeding my wild oats!

Its that old predicament – when you’re single, you’ll always get a craving for certain comforts which come from a relationship; and when you’re taken, you’ll typically look on single people with envy!

You certainly sound like you’re preferring the single life, but maybe missing a bit of companionship; perhaps look to your friends more to fill this hole?
